Vipers name Lwanga as captain

Vipers face Zanzibar’s JKU (Jeshi la Kujenga Uchumi Sports Club) in the opening game of the championship on Friday afternoon at Chamazi Stadium.

KAMPALA - Vipers sports club has named defensive midfielder, Tadeo Lwanga as their new captain.
 
Lwanga who will be assisted by defender Geoffrey Wasswa took over Vipers' leadership from Nicholas Wadada who joined Tanzanian giants Azam. 
 
The former SC Villa skipper will use the forthcoming CECAFA Kagame club championship as his first assignment to be in charge of the team.
 
"We know the task ahead of us.We are a big team and it's always good to start duty with victory although it  may seem very difficult but we shall do to our best,"stated  Lwanga.

The 2017/ 2018 Azam Uganda premier league champions last took part in this tournament in 2011 losing to Tanzanian based Simba SC at the quarter finals.
 
They are now placed in group A with Azam FC of Tanzania, JKU of Zanzibar as well as Kator FC of South Sudan.
 
It will be the second time vipers will be playing at that level and with the CAF Champions League awaiting them next season.
