KAMPALA - The Black Pirates rugby club team captain Ivan Magomu has said that his team is focused on winning all the trophies this season and winning first Circuit of the Guinness National Rugby 7s series unbeaten is testimony.
 
The Pirates beat Betway Kobs 26-7 in the final at Kyadondo Rugby club on Saturday but before the final they smashed Hima Cement Heathens 35-5 in the semi-final to send a strong message that they want all the trophies.
 
The Pirates have so far won the Uganda Cup and league as well as the Martyrs Day 7s rugby tournament held in Walukuba on June 2.
 
“This is the beginning. We set the target of winning the sevens circuit and wining the opening round boosts our morale ahead of the next circuit in Jinja,” team captain Ivan Magomu said.
 
“We are going to review our errors correct them and wait for the next circuit which also target to win,” Magomu added.
 
Timothy Kisiga, Isaac Rujumba, Conrad Wanyama and Frank Kidega scoring a try each as Ivan Magomu added three conversions.
 
Sabastian Juuko and Edgar Sseruwagi managed a try and conversion respectively for the Kobs.
 
To storm the final Pirates whipped Hima Cement Heathens 35-5 while Kobs defeated Shell Rimula Rhinos 14-7 in the semi-finals.
 
 
Walukuba dates KIU West  
 
Meanwhile Walukuba Barbarians beat Sailors 20-15 to reach the final of the rugby premiership league qualifiers against KIU Western on Saturday.
 
KIU western defeated Gulu 23-17 in the semi-finals played at Makerere University Rugby Ground on Saturday.
 
In another development Hima Cement Heathens has partnered with Unilever under their brand Vaseline which will be supplied to the players.
