Uganda drops in FIFA rankings

Uganda has dropped eight places in the latest FIFA rankings.

KAMPALA - Uganda has dropped eight places in the latest FIFA rankings. The Pearl of Africa that gathered 402 points dropped from the 74th to 82nd out of over 206 member countries ranked by the world governing body.
 
Uganda's drop in rankings comes after Cranes went down 1-0 to Central African Repuclic in the friendly match played towards the end of last month in the training camp in Niger.
 
Coach Sebastian Desabre's side also went ahead to lose their second friendly after going down to hosts Niger 2-1 early this month.
 
The two friendly matches were preparing the Cranes for the 2019 AFCON Qualifier with Tanzania on September 7th at Mandela National Stadium,Namboole.
 
Cranes top Group L (3 points) which consists of Tanzania, Lesotho and Cape Verde. They beat Cape Verde 1-0 in the opening game of the qualifers last year.
 
Other CECAFA Members:
 
Kenya (112), Rwanda (136), Ethiopia (151), Burundi (121), Tanzania (140), Sudan (128), South Sudan (156), Djibouti (197), Eritrea and Somalia are joint 206th.
 
Germany who are one of the top contenders  to win the 2018 World Cup that gets underway few days from now ,leads the global ranking with 1558 points.  Tunisia is the best ranked country in Africa in the 21rd position with 910 points.  The next ranking will come out on July 7th.
