LUGOGO - With giants, KCCA FC and Onduparaka FC, there is surely more than meets the eye.

The two headstrong clubs are just about everything a random community in Uganda would desire to associate with.

Besides showcasing 'on- the -edge -of- your -seat football' whenever they step on the greens, they engage in changing people's lives.

The clubs have entered into a partnership with Palliative Care Association of Uganda (PCAU), to offer medical relief and treatment to basically patients with chronic life limiting illness.

The partners have spelled out a sh500m budget to construct the first Hospice in the Arua region which will be named New Life Hospice operating under a strictly non-profit motive.

"It is with great pleasure that as the peoples's club, we come out to engage in this life changing project.

There are so many chronically infected people out there that can not access and afford health care and we want to play a huge role in overturning such situations" said Mercy Munduru, head of marketing Onduparaka Wednesday during a presser at Startimes Stadium, Lugogo.

The facility by nature will treat the ones that are getting on in years and have chronic illnesses like cancer, children and patients from different ages and backgrounds at no cost.

"The beuty about such treatment is that it makes the patients more comfortable and it can even be extended to their homes.

"We can only hope that this poject will forever change the people of Arua who had to trek long distances for these services" said Mark Mwesiga, Programmes Manager PCAU.

Two fundraising games between KCCA FC and Onduparaka are set for 16th and 30th June at Startimes Stadium and BetWay Greenlight Stadium at Lugogo and Arua respectively.

"I urge all football fans to come in large numbers and support this cause. We, as KCCA have always welcomed community projects and I hope we continue doing so in the foreseeable future" said Moses Magero, KCCA FC publicist.

Palliative Care Association Uganda is an umbrella body that was established in Uganda in 1999 to support and promote Palliative care services in Uganda.
