Security tight ahead of Martyrs' Day celebrations

Jun 02, 2018

The Police and sister security agencies have beefed up the security in Namugongo and surrounding areas ahead of the Martyrs' Day celebrations on Sunday.

Security has been tightened at both the entry points of Namugongo Martyrs shrine. Before any pilgrim is allowed to enter at each entry points of both the Catholic and Anglican shrines, there is thorough checking.

This has slowed down the movement into the area. The queues are long because of  the overwhelming number of pilgrims entering and going out of the shrine.

According to security officials, all pilgrims are supposed to leave mirrors, pins, forks, knifes, liers , mirrors or any piecing thing at the entrance. Failure to comply, you don't enter the shrine. Security has been beefed up right from Kyaliwajjala up to Namugongo Anglican Church.
