UWA commissions eight storeyed building

By thinking out of the box, UWA is showing other parastatals what ought to be done to generate resources to deliver services.

KAMPALA - Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) is on the heels of the Catholic Church with Mapera House and the Anglican Church's imposing Church House by changing the skyline of Kampala City and its neighborhood.

 

This was observed while commissioning the eight storeyed UWA plaza on Kanjokya Street plot 31.

 

"By thinking out of the box, UWA is showing other parastatals what ought to be done to generate resources to deliver services," the Minister for Tourism Wildlife and Antiquates, Prof Ephraim Kamuntu said while commissioning it on May 25.

 

"Given such creativity I foresee the end of the conflict between wildlife and communities in the neighborhood."

Kamutu added that compensation of the aggrieved will definitely speed up as UWA stops depending on national park gate collections for resources.

 

The minister of state for tourism, Godfrey Kiwanda, beaming with smiles of satisfaction, challenged tour operators, Uganda Hotel Owners Association and others in the chain of service providers in tourism to book office space.

 

"The location is congestion free, quiet and it is an attractive modern architecture worth every coin of the sh20b invested in its construction," observed Kiwanda. "Show me a better unit down town Kampala City…"

 

The Executive Director UWA Sam Mwandah patted his predecessor Andrew Seguya for seeing the ambitious venture come to fruition.
