She wanted to visit the entire world's continent and Uganda's Bwindi impenetrable National Park was her dream destination on the 6th continent (Africa).

Gloria, who was accompanied by her family, had conquered her life time dream of meeting the gorillas. Unknowingly, the gorillas created a hostile reception to the visitors as one of them that was feeding broke a branch with nests of wasps. In a short time, tourists scattered in the wake of an attack mounted by hundreds of wasps.

Gloria did not make it as she fell and moments later she was declared dead. Four other tourists were hospitalized. The Police was called in immediately and later the US embassy evacuated Gloria's body to Kampala.

"It is unfortunate incident which we regret," said Bashir Hangi, the spokesperson of Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) in Kampala. "Ordinarily people want to come here and do what they want most, it is unfortunate that Gloria did not go back alive to tell other people about her experience."

Hangi added: "Wasps stung her, but she was of advanced age. We have not established the cause of death and we are not able to tell when we get a postmortem report."

Gloria was adventurous and veterinarian who had a long standing interest in baboons and gorillas.

Sarah, Gloria's daughter, said her mother and her father (Gary) had been planning the trip to Uganda for months. The family was on their first day of tracking in Uganda.
