The Police say baby Chelsea Tezanya was rescued from Kalangala Islands together with the maid suspected to have stolen her.
A baby who was kidnapped from her parents’ home in Kireka, Wakiso district early this week has been rescued.
Police say baby Chelsea Tezanya was rescued from Kalangala Islands together with Esther Mulekateete, the maid suspected to have kidnapped her.
“Police has managed to track down the maid even as she had switched off her known mobile phone,” said deputy Police spokesperson, Patrick Onyango.
Onyango added that the Police in Mukono has since arrested the suspect. He said Esther Mulekateete had worked for Tazenya’s family for only four days before disappearing with the baby.
“Our team is on its way to get baby Chelsea and re-unite her with her parents in Kira,” Onyango said.
Media reports on Tuesday indicated that Mulakateete kidnapped her from her parents’ home in Kireka.
The baby’s father, Arthur Tazenya, appealed to the public to help trace his daughter.
She was among over a dozen Ugandans who have disappeared recently in a spate of kidnaps.
Last week on Friday, two babies were kidnapped from their village in Naluvule, Wakiso district, and later found killed and their bodies dumped in a thicket adjacent to their home.
