The FUFA regional dream is within grasp for Aziz Damani Katooke FC.

Three more wins and Anthony Bongole's side will secure promotion from FUFA division one, the fourth tier of Ugandan football, to the regional stage. The Premier League is the ultimate dream, of course, but for now all that matters is completing the division 1 assignment, which has likely reached its toughest moment.

Today at Wankuluku, Damani take on KJT in the first leg of the playoff semi-finals, with Miracle and Kampala United clashing in the other semi afterwards. The second legs are on Tuesday.

For Damani director Benjamin Musoke, the mood is positive.

"Hopes are high otherwise we would not have gone to camp," Musoke told New Vision Sports.

Damani finished second in Group 2 of division one, booking a two-legged date with Group 1 winners KJT. Obviously, Damani are bracing for a stern test.

"It is going to be tough but we have done our research," Musoke revealed. "We have been in camp for three weeks and we're not playing badly.

"It has not been easy getting to this point of the season but we have worked our way up."

More than the glory

Yet for Damani, there is more to it than just qualification. Club owner Aziz Damani, who also runs three cricket clubs, aims for more than just sporting success.

"For us, what matters is not just qualifying to regional football," Musoke revealed. "Even if we don't qualify we are still happy for supporting youngsters to play the game and managing to build a well-run football club."

For the Aziz Damani Sports NGO, which has also invested in sports like volleyball and badminton, the real vision is about impacting lives through sports. Still, a winners' medal would not hurt, would it?
