The Mufti of Uganda Sheikh Ramadhan Mubajje has asked kidnappers which have put many Ugandans on tension to use the holy month of ramadhan to repent.

In his  massage to the Muslim community delivered by second deputy mufti Muhammad Ali Waiswa on Thursday at Old Kampala , Mubajje said the act of kidnapping and murder of innocent people for money is not Godly and whoever is behind it should repent. Muslims started fasting, the holy month of ramadhan on Thursday.

“It is very absurd that we have begun this year’s fasting when people are being kidnapped and later killed regardless of meeting their demands. However, I implore whoever is behind this terror act to refrain from it during ramadhan because it threatens Muslims who wish to obverse night prayers,” Mubajje said.

Mubajje warned that failure by the kidnappers to refrain from the act, he will pray to God to unmask them.

He also appealed to couples to stop fighting for property.

“Why should you fight for property that you will leave behind after death? Let us learn to resolve our grievances amicably because killing each other is not a solution,” he noted.

So far, over ten people including Susan Magara have been reportedly kidnapped and killed by yet to be known gang after seeking a ransom.

The latest victim is Brinah Nalule, a 19-yeard-old girl who was reportedly kidnapped from the Old Taxi Park in Kampala and was found dead a few days later.

Her kidnappers are said to have demanded sh10m from parents, but when they involved the police, she was strangled and the body dumped in Kibaawo zone in Mutundwe, Rubaga Division.

Mubajje also said it is incumbent upon every Muslim to fast as prescribed in the holy Quran since fasting is the fourth pillar of Islam.

“While fasting, I encourage you to keep your tongues and other body parts from activities that are against the teachings of the Islamic religion,” Mubajje said.

He also asked Muslim to pray for peace, unity and proper understanding of one another in the entire world.
