Kabale Police recover lost boy

On Wednesday, the suspect who was claiming to be in Kanungu district with the child, demanded a ransom of sh7m.

KABALE - Police in Kabale distirct have recovered a five-year-old boy believed to have been kidnapped one week ago.


They were helped by the locals of Kacerere village, in Rubaya Sub-County.

According to the Kigezi Regional Police spokesperson, Elly Maate, Police worked hand-in-hand with the boy's parents and Kacerere residentds, following the increased phone calls from the suspect who claimed to know the where abouts of the child.

On Wednesday, the suspect who was claiming to be in Kanungu district with the child, demanded a ransom worth sh7m.

This prompted Police to use GPS tracking system, that revealed his location; around Ryakarimira township, Rubaya.

Maate added that locals saw the suspected kidnapper acting suspicious, when abandoned the boy and the sport bike he had; taking off into the bush.

However, later, he was got from a hideout in Kacerere forest. A case file has been opened and investigations are underway.

The suspect, who is still failing to reveal his particulars is being detained at Kabale Police station.
