Eva Magala produced her best career round of golf ever, to top the ladies competition and qualify for the Windhoek Golf Open in Namibia at Entebbe Club on Saturday.

Trailing by four strokes going into the final qualifying round and having missed the first qualifier, Magala was nowhere near the favourites, but a three-under par 69 gross, her best round ever worked wonders propelling her to the top.

"I have been training a lot lately and it has paid off. I was chasing four strokes and missed the first round of the qualifier because we had travelled to Abuja, but I kept on pushing. I actually played the same score during practice the previous day," Magala said.

She will now enjoy an all-expenses paid trip to play in the Windhoek Lager Championship alongside golfers from ten other countries alongside Charles Mubiru who topped Group A, Paul Baite who was the best in Group B and Benson Katema whose consistence so him top Group C.

The four will now continue preparing for the Namibia team event where they will take on golfers from Namibia, Botswana, Kenya, Mauritius, South Africa, Swaziland, Tanzania, Zambia, Zimbabwe and Seychelles in June.
