Group A Friday fixtures

Township Rollers v KCCA
Al Ahly v Espérance de Tunis

KCCA FC head coach Mike Mutebi has broadcast an air of confidence as his side meet Township Rollers of Botswana today in the CAF Champions League.

The Ugandan defending league champions will face a stern test today at Bostwana National Stadium in the Group A opener.

Mutebi believes his boys are up for the task.

"We have the ability to match the best team in Africa because we are here on merit," he is quoted as saying ahead of the tie.

"We are aware of the threat Township Rollers can cause because they have our former player Ivan Ntege but we shall remain head-on because they play our style. The better team will carry the day."

KCCA, who became the first Ugandan club to qualify for the CAF Champions League group stages, are raring to trudge on.

Theirs, though, will be a tough test as they have record winners Al Ahly of Egypt and two-time winners Espérance de Tunis of Tunisa in their group.

The Ugandan outfit with a relatively young squad with some experienced players will be without their first-choice goalkeeper Charles Lukwago who did not travel with the team to Gaborone due to accumulated yellow cards.
