Ketty Akullo is no ordinary midwife. For the last one year, she has been the only midwife at Amugo Health Centre III in Alebtong district.
For the months of March and April, Akullo delivered 83 mothers.
"Labour time is the most worrying period for every expectant mother, but in the last two months, Akullo's hand has helped in this facility," Betty Achan, a mother to the new born said.
Ketty Akullo, 32, works tirelessly to make sure that mothers from 64 villages and four parishes feel the joy of bearing a child.
At this facility, Akullo, the only midwife at the health centre handles the work load of four midwives.
"I make sure I carry out deliveries and post-natal care to mothers with new borns, immunisation, family planning services, counselling to both mothers and fathers," she says.
In addition, Akullo attends to other patients who visit the facility with different ailments.
Akullo is one of the students who excelled in e-Learning programme at Mulago School of Nursing in 2015.
However, she says that her biggest challenge is lack of medical equipment to use during deliveries.
"We always run out of stock since we are deep in the village, for example as we talk now the hospital has run out Mama Kits, which slows our work," she states.
