A student teacher has been knocked dead by a speeding taxi in Ngora district.
Phoebe Alupo 18 a student of Early Child Development Teacher Training Institute in Kumi was knocked dead on Friday evening in the busy Mukura trading centre in Ngora district along Mbale - Soroti highway.
The OC traffic Ngora, Charles Esimu, said the deceased was knocked by un identified speeding hit and run taxi while on her way back to school.
Esimu said Daniel Ikinyom, a bodaboda cyclist, who was carrying her also sustained serious injuries and is currently admitted at Kumi Orthopaedic Centre with a broken left leg and hand.
Joseph Opio, a father to the deceased, said his daughter had returned home to pick school fees.
Alupo hails from Okunguro parish Mukura sub-county Ngora district while Daniel Ikinyom (survivor) hails from Olupe in Kumi sub county Kumi district.
