The Cricket Cranes expect a turnaround in fortunes as Malaysia comes calling for the ICC World Cricket League Division IV.

There is a desperate need to undo the taunting memories from last year's ICC World Cricket League Division 3 where Uganda in their own background were condemned to "where they don't belong; division four"

Attaining the bare minimum is on the cards for Steven Tikolo's much changed side in Malaysia. Overwhelming favourites in the six team contest, Uganda must finish among the top two to guarantee promotion back to division three.

The tournament is part of the 2017-22 cycle of the World Cricket League which of course determines qualification for the 2023 Cricket World Cup.

Coach Steve Tikolo believes the changes on the team come with a lot of importance. "The wicket keeper" question has been finally answered. Fred Achelam is a great replacement for the long serving Lawrence Sematimba.

"I can confidently report that we are good to go. The players satisfactorily made the cut. The team is high on confidence and ready to deliver," said Tikolo during the official flag off of the team Tuesday at Lugogo.

Skipper Roger Mukasa who took from Davis Karashani is eager to impress at his first major assignment in his new role.

"We surely need to restore some pride. I have faith in the team and I believe we can make it" he said.

The Cricket Cranes will open their campaign against the hosts after a warm up with Bermuda on 27 April.
