PROPERTY VALUATION

Local council leaders of Kawempe South were this week sensitised ahead of field activities of City Addressing and Property valuation exercises which will soon kick off in Kawempe division.

Following the completion of the valuation exercise in Central and Nakawa division, the exercise has now rolled out to other city divisions such as Kawempe.

The leaders, who included LCs and division councillors were sensitised on the advantages of the engaging in the exercise of valuing properties and the street naming projects.

According to the supervisor for training and public awareness, Daniel Nuwabine, The Kampala Capital City Council (KCCA) is carrying out a property valuation and city addressing exercise in Kampala city.

Nuwabine said the objective is to boost the collection of local revenue required to deliver services to residents of Kampala. Similarly, city addressing will further improve navigation in the city.

The property valuation and city addressing exercise is due to start in Kawempe, Rubaga and Makindye division. This exercise was successfully completed in central and Nakawa divisions.

What the exercise involves

Property valuation involves the physical inspection of properties picking the different property attributes, ownership and locational details. City addressing involves assigning identification numbers to houses, road naming and installation of road signs.

Supporting the works

KCCA is requesting the public to co-operate with its field staff as they execute their work with minimum inconveniences by allowing them access to your premises to carry out inspection of the properties.

Nuwabine called on the leaders provide the teams with property ownership and location details such as plot and block numbers in case of titled properties. Other required details are the property owners names and telephone contacts, email address and postal address as well as identification number (national ID or passport).

Nuwabine said any other information availed to KCCA will enable them undertake a fair valuation assessment of their property.

What residents expect

The local leaders said they expect better services from the revenue collected.
