British national dies while on tour in Kabale

KABALE - Mukesh Shukla, a 60-year-old British national, was pronounced dead shortly after collapsing during a tour of Butanda Pygmies settlement in Ndorwa West County in Kabale district.

Elly Maate, the Kigezi regional Police spokesperson, said Shukla died on Saturday while being rushed to the hospital after collapsing.

Maate said the Shukla, together with three others; Tejal Raval, Nishma Raval and Kalvinder Barad had a day before checked in at Bunyonyi Resort on Lake Bunyonyi in Kabale from Ishasha in Kanungu.

"They had decided to tour the pygmies settlement in Butanda and on their way realised that Shukla had collapsed. They tried to rush to hospital, but unfortunately, he died on the way," said Maate.

He said the trio later called ambulance and Shukla's body was taken to Kabale Regional Referral Hospital for postmortem.
