The commission, while grilling the ministry officials on Thursday on the prioritisation of gender equity issues in the 2018/2019 budget framework paper, said women and other vulnerable groups such as older persons needed to be protected from aggressive forces playing in business.

Led by its vice-chairperson, Dennis Nduhura, the interface took place at the commission's offices in Bugolobi, Kampala.

The finance ministry undersecretary, Moses Ogene, defended the Government, saying women, older persons and other vulnerable groups owned the great portion in the small-scale businesses in Uganda.
