Ugandan players have intensified their preparations for the ITF Tennis Pro- Circuit that will be held in Uganda from April 28 to May 28 at the tennis sports complex, Lugogo.
Over 140 entries have been confirmed from 30 countries, but this number is expected to increase before closure of entries on April 14.
Uganda’s appearance for such international events comes after Uganda Tennis Association (UTA) was readmitted by the International Tennis Federation (ITF) and Confederation of African Tennis (CAT) after clearing a debt of $22,500 (sh82m) and $3000 (sh10.9m) respectively.
Through the ITF subscription, there are various benefits the local tennis fraternity gets such as grants for the players to participate in various ITF junior circuits at the under ages, participation in Davis Cup and Fed Cup events, admission of players to ITF training centers in Burundi and Morocco, grants for coaches course, selection of talented players on to ITF/Grand Slam development fund junior touring teams.
