SOROTI - Gunfire rocked Soroti Municipality Friday night as Police fired at suspected thieves allegedly found attempting to break a safe in Duck Hill microfinance.

The suspects had also vandalised the windows of Team Technology Limited located within the same premises and allegedly made off with laptops among other things, some of which were recovered.

The Duck Hill Microfinance branch manager, George Angar, declined to explain why their security guard did not make any alarm when the thieves attacked.

On the other hand, David Isamat, the director Team Technology Limited, said the thieves made off with a TV flat screen , three laptops and DSTV decoders, among others.

The Police public relations officer for East Kyoga, Michael Odongo, identified the suspects as suspects as James Olupot, 37 of Orungo sub-county in Amuria district and Charles Aisu, 42 of Malera sub-county in Bukedea district. Duck Hill Microfinance security guard John Osage was also apprehended.

Odong said two other suspects took off during the scuffle.

According to Odongo, the security guard could have been chloroformed as he was found unconscious at the nearby patrol station.
