Komugisha eyes more golf titles

She beat another rising star Martha Babirye by five strokes.

She could be headed to the unknown after winning two ladies Group A golf prizes this months, but upcoming lady golfer Judith Komugisha is not worried about prospects of facing single handicappers.

After winning the Lady Captain's prize and the Stanbic Bank quarterly monthly mug at the Uganda Golf Club in quick succession, Komugisha has had her handicap improved from 12 to 10 after the two tournaments, and any further wins this year will have her playing against the already established order.

But she believes hard work will see her through and is relishing the opportunity of competing against the likes of Gloria Mbaguta, Eva Magala and Irene Nakalembe among others in the ladies Group A.

"I have been practicing a lot since I'm in my senior six vacation, but I'm just happy about it because it has always been my wish to have my handicap chopped," Komugisha said after picking her mug from former UGU president Sam Zaramba at Kitante.

"I want to be like handicap 5 by the end of this year and I'm working towards winning the ladies open; If by September I have achieved 5 handicap there will be big chances of me winning," the former Premier High School student stated.

She beat another rising star Martha Babirye by five strokes, while Edrae Kagombe and Rosette Tugume were the best in Group B.

But it was Paul Nuwagaba (handicap 12) who beat over 100 golfers on the day with a net score of 65 to win the Stanbic sponsored first quarterly mug.
