My mother-in-law is controlling

DILEMMA | FAMILY 

Jane and I got married four years ago. I love my wife, but my mother-in-law is controlling. Apart from demanding that her daughter visits her every week, she dictates how I run my family. I have discussed this with my wife, but she says there is nothing wrong with her mother advising us. This makes me feel like I am not doing enough as the head of the family. How should I tell her without hurting her feelings?
