Local Term Appointment (initial Two (2) Years, renewable) Location: Kampala, Uganda
H/she will work under the leadership of the Country Manager and the day to day supervision of the Senior Driver or the Resource Management Officer.
The selected candidate will work as part of the Country Office Carpool, and will drive office vehicles. The job involves frequent interaction with World Bank Group staff and officials of Government and Development Partner Agencies.
The duties and accountabilities include:
(i) Drive the assigned office vehicles, ensuring the safety of staff and/or authorized passengers, vehicle and other road users;
(ii) Meet official personnel, including mission staff at the airport and facilitate immigration and customs formalities as required;
(iii) Ensure day to day maintenance and cleanliness of the assigned vehicle and perform minor routine repairs;
(iv) Verify that the vehicle is equipped with First Aid kit and that h/she is trained in providing first aid, check expiry date for consumables in the kit and seek replacement as appropriate;
(v) Ensure that the vehicle’s documentation is always current, including display of current insurance cover at all times;
(vi) Observe the host country’s traffic rules and regulations, and always check and adhere to security information from the supervisor and be aware of the environment for safe driving within and outside of Kampala.
Selection Criteria and Electronic Applications: The successful candidate should hold an intermediate school certificate, a valid driver’s license and be capable of defensive driving, with five (5) years’ professional driving experience. Knowledge of UN security system procedures and conversant with VHF Radio call will be an added advantage.
