Fr. Lokodo discharged from Mulago hospital

According to Grace Mirembe, the Institute’s spokesperson, Lokodo was discharged on Thursday at about 4.30pm, having improved tremendously.

The state minister for ethics and integrity, Fr. Simon Lokodo has been discharged from the Uganda Heart Institute in Mulago where he was admitted on Wednesday.

Mirembe said the minister was brought to the Heart Institute with high blood pressure but the doctors managed to contain his situation.

"His pressure was high and it could have caused him to suffer from a stroke but when the doctors attended to him, his condition was averted and he was subsequently discharged," Mirembe said.

Lokodo was at the Ssese Island Beach Resort in Kalangala, where he was scheduled to launch a two-day conference on rebuilding ethics and integrity among religious leaders and the Government. Moments before the conference begun, participants learnt that the minister was unwell and had gotten paralyzed.

He was airlifted from Kalangala to Kampala for specialised treatment at the Uganda Heart Institute after he was referred by Dr. Florence Batuusa, the resident doctor at Kalangala Health Centre IV.
