FUFA Drum tournament set to kick off

UGANDAN FOOTBALL


KAMPALA - The inaugural edition of the FUFA Drum tournament is set to kick off on Saturday.

The 16 provinces of Uganda will be involved in the competition.

Busoga and Bugisu will face off in the opening match at Bugembe Stadium in Jinja.

The tournament's final will be on October 6 in Kasese district.

The 16 provinces are: Teso, Busoga, Sebei, Bugisu, Lango, Buganda, Acholi, Kigezi, Bukedi, Bunyoro, Kampala, Rwenzori, Karamoja, Ankole, West Nile and Toro.

Security will be beefed up at Bugembe Stadium for the opener, according to Rogers Byamukama, the chairperson of the Drum organising committee.

Several high profile people are expected on Saturday, he told a meeting at the FUFA technical centre in Njeru on Friday.

Meanwhile, the Busoga camp has been boosted with the addition of Uganda Cranes and Vipers SC forward Milton Karisa and URA FC goalkeeper Mathias Muwanga.

Organising chairperson Drum, Rogers Byamukama disclosed this during a
close meeting at FUFA technical center in Njeru on Friday morning.

Meanwhile the Busoga camp received a big boost of having Cranes and
Vipers FC striker Milton Karisa alongside URA FC 's duo goal keeper
Mathaues Muwanga and team captain Allan Munaaba ahead of the Bugisu
show down.
