DOKOLO - Two crime preventers who had gone to arrest a suspect in Dokolo district were instead attacked. One was stabbed to death, while the other sustained injuries and is admitted in hospital.

Police said the two crime preventers, Micheal Enyang, and Kizito Omodo on Tuesday evening went to arrest one Lawrence Omong, 46, of Ilong Village, Awiri parish in Dokolo district on allegations of obtaining sh800,000 by false pretense.

The regional Police spokesperson for North Kyoga, David Ongom, said the suspect stabbed Enyang on the neck, killing him instantly.

Omondo, who was stabbed on the back, was rushed to Dokolo Health Centre IV, while Enjang's body was taken to the same health facility for a post-mortem examination.

The suspect was apprehended and detained at Awiri Police station before being transferred to Dokolo central Police Station.

The Police said Omong will be charged with two counts of murder and attempted murder.

"Police condemns this matter of resistance to lawful arrest. We urge the public to work with the police within the legal provisions to have their matters attended to," he said.
