Kabale University students in blood donation drive

KABALE -  Students from the Kabale University Medical School will hold a blood donation drive on February 22 and 23 at their campus in Kabale.

The National Blood Bank has been on a drive to collect blood after getting a shortage in the last three months.

"In a year, we expect to collect 340,000 units of blood, but only manage to collect 200,000 units," Dorothy Kyeyune, the executive director of Uganda Blood Transfusion Services, said.

Timothy Lumu, a member of the Kabale University Medical Students Association said: "We want to be part of this cause as it is one that saves lives each year."

Josephat Kafuko, another student, said they want to participate in the blood donation to help engage Ugandans appreciate blood donation.
