RUKUNGIRI - The case in which Col. Dr. Kiiza Besigye and seven others are accused in Rukungiri court has been adjourned to April 12.

They are accused of inciting violence, malicious damage and disobeying the public management order.

The grade one magistrate, Andrew Katurubuki, said the chief magistrate who was trying the case was not present in court as he was transferred to Kabale to oversee the former Kigezi sub-region.

Defense lawyer, Mark Mwesigye, said apart from Besigye, other suspects were present and, therefore, nothing would stop the proceeding.

Besigye's surety Betty Muzanira said he was out of the country for official duties, but would agree with whatever the court decides.

Other suspects in dock FDC president Patrick Amuriat Oboi, Ingrid Turinawe, Innocent Tashobya and Darius Tweyambe. Others are Moses Byamukama alias Kitanga, Joseph Akankwatsa and Fred Asiimwe.

After adjournment, Amuriat said they will not get tired of coming to court until it is disposed of as it is meant to disrupt their work.

He said they have also engage lawyers to take on the case for Edison Nasasira Kakuru who passed on and others who got injured during the official campaign in the district.
