Farouk Miya makes debut for Azerbaijan club

Uganda Cranes player Farouk Miya made his debut for Sabail FK in the Azerbaijan premier league on Sunday.

Mahil Madatov scored the only goal in the 51st minute as Miya's Sabail went down 1-0 to at home to Qarabag FK. Miya who replaced Elman Tagayev after 53 minutes of play was last week loaned to Sabil FC from Belgian side, Standard De Liege until the end of the season.

Miya, who scored Uganda's only goal at the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon, barely got playing time in the first round of the Belgian Pro League before Standard De Liege loaned him.

This is not the first time Miya has been loaned out. Last year, Standard De Liege sent him on loan to Mouscron, but he still had little playing time.

Miya's troubles at Liège began when coach Yannick Ferrera was sacked on September 2016.
