The three tries plus two penalties and a conversion by Wilfred Sseguya gave Toyota Buffaloes 23-18 victory over Heathens on Friday at Kyadondo Rugby Club.
Lawrence Ssebuliba and Michael Wokorach managed a try each as Simon Okwera added two penalties and a conversion for Heathens but they were not enough to redeem them from defeat.
Heathens on Friday lost 23-18 to Buffaloes, setting a record of being the first Uganda rugby league defending champion to lose five games and also struggle to stay among the top five in a league of only 10 teams.
Head coach Muhammad Athio and assistant Branko Ng'inja told Sunday Vision after 23-18 defeat that the boys are failing to put certain basic rugby principles right and that is why they are getting such disappointing results.
"We lost the ball in the rucks and ball carrier support was poor just because we were playing flat and that is why we were caught off guard on so many occasions," Branko noted.
Buffaloes' coach Edgar Lamerigar said: "We stuck to our game structure and the boys remained composed throughout the game".
The defeat kept Heathens in the fifth position with 37 points after getting a bonus point for losing below 7point gap margin.
