“Osuna’s life was that of sharing,” he said of the deceased, adding that he has left behind a footprint of professionalism and service to humanity.

The legal fraternity has eulogized Dominic Osuna, a fallen records assistant who served the Judiciary for 30 years, while working in the office of the Chief Registrar.

During a requiem mass held at St James Catholic Church in Biina, on February 11, Judges, bailiffs and lawyers who thronged the church to pay their last respects, described the deceased as a committed civil servant who served them with diligence and professionalism.

The Chief Registrar, Paul Gadenya said Osuna knew his work and was always willing to share his knowledge with young lawyers, judicial officers and bailiffs that he closely interacted with.

"Osuna's life was that of sharing," he said of the deceased, adding that he has left behind a footprint of professionalism and service to humanity.

Anti-corruption court Judge, Lawrence Gidudu, who spoke on behalf of the Judiciary, described him as the institutional memory of the office of the Chief Registrar having served 11 Chief Registrars.

"He kept the roll of advocates and there was no mess. He kept all oaths...that of the President and Judicial Officers...he knew the protocol list and made the work of the Chief Registrar simple," he said.

Gidudu said Osuna was lucky not to have shied away from the journey to heaven having served 11 Chief Registrars.

Simon Peter Kinobe from the Uganda Law Society said Osuna was meticulous, hardworking and hard to be caught at fault but had a gentle smile that forced one to do what they ought to do.

He said Osuna was the bridge between the Chief Registrar and lower echelons of the Judiciary.

The chairperson of Uganda Court Bailiffs Association, Bonnie Rwamukaaga, thanked the deceased for instilling professionalism in him.

Born in 1963, Osuna joined the Judiciary in 1987 as an office messenger and rose through the ranks to become a records assistant. He lost the battle to meningitis on February 10 at Joint Clinical Research Centre, at the age of 55. He is survived by a widow and five children.
