Uganda Cranes players to receive monthly salaries

Feb 15, 2018

The players will be earning the money for the next 6 months

A total of 50 Uganda Cranes players are to earn sh1m per month from Government. The payments were supposed to start in January, but FUFA is yet to come out with a final list of the players.

The monthly salary is part of the sh4.3b supplementary budget that runs from January to June 2018

"We thank His Excellency President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni. When he hosted the delegation from FUFA at his country home in Rwakitura, he accorded us time to discuss football ideas. Part of the money in this supplementary budget was used to support the team in the 2018 CHAN tournament in Morocco," FUFA president Eng. Moses Magogo said.

The players will be earning the money for the next 6 months. 10 players shall be from the U-20 and 15 from under 23 team.

The selection process of the players shall be based on merit (current form) as guided by the national head coach Sebastien Desabre. Part of that money will also be used to purchase a new Cranes bus.

Cranes players have been receiving only allowances and bonuses whenever they were summoned for national duty.
