The district traffic Police officer of Kaberamaido, Daniel Abiar, said the Fuso truck registration number UAY642C was carrying fish and produce.

KABERAMAIDO - Another Fuso truck heading to Soroti has overtuned in Bululu sub-county in Kaberamaido district along Kaberamaido-Soroti main road, injuring five people.

The district traffic Police officer of Kaberamaido, Daniel Abiar, said the Fuso truck registration number UAY642C was carrying fish and produce.

According to Abiar, the truck could not navigate the narrow road which had heaps of murram waiting to be used for renovation.

Meanwhile, the Police are hunting for the driver of the truck, who is said to be on the run.

Those injured were referred to Soroti Hospital after receiving first aid at one of the clinics in Bululu.

Abair said the force directed the people working on the road to create enough space for vehicles to use.

"When a road is being repaired, enough space should be left to allow traffic flow," Abiar said.

This is the second truck getting involved in an accident, after a tipper lorry overturned and caused the death of four inmates and a number of others injured.

Meanwhile, the owner of the vehicle, Joseph Ekanyu, said he visited the victims of the accident and got the assurance that they were out of danger.

Ekanyu blamed those working on the road for not putting up any sign post to show that work was going.

"We passed here during the day and there were no works going on. On returning, we found heaps of murram on the road with little space left for the car to use," Ekanyu said.

He said he wanted the Police to hold those working on the road responsible for the accident.
