The Uganda Beach Soccer Association chairperson Deo Mutabazi has urged players to work hard in the league in order to be considered for the National beach soccer team, the Sand Cranes who will host the inaugural CECAFA Beach Soccer championships that are due in April.
"Being the CECAFA Beach soccer Championships hosts, there is increased competition for places. Players are putting up outstanding performances so as to appear on the national team," Mutabazi said.
He said clubs and players have become highly competitive because they expect prize awards at the end of the season.
"The FUFA president Moses Magogo gave us sh5m, which will be shared among the four semifinalists. We were unable to award the winners last year because sponsors pulled out," Mutabazi said.
Twelve countries will take part in the CECAFA Beach championships, which is the direct entry to the 2018 CAF Beach Soccer Championships due in Egypt.
