Mabira accident claims one

Residents blamed the Uganda National Roads Authority for neglecting the sharp corner at Buwoola after the Mabira police post

ACCIDENT

An accident involving three Fuso trucks and a trailer in Mabira forest along the Jinja-Kampala highway killed one person on Friday.

Eyewitnesses say the trailer Benz, registration number UAN 460D/UAL 250E, which was heading to Kampala rammed into the moving Fuso truck registration number UBA 563U.

Semeo Nangizi died, while the driver, Frank Seruwa, sustained injuries.

Later, another Fuso truck, registration number UAY 195S, from Kampala, also collided with the trailer. The truck driver,  Abubeker Wanja from Iganga district, also sustained injuries.

Meanwhile, the driver of the third Fuso, number UAX 905R lost control as he attempted to avoid hitting the wreckages and ended up in the forest.

Police blamed the trailer driver for driving on the wrong side. However, the driver is on the run.

Residents blamed the Uganda National Roads Authority for neglecting the sharp corner at Buwoola after the Mabira police post. They said many people had lost their lives due to the multiple accidents that take place at the spot.

The wreckages were towed to Mabira police station.
