Police holding American over military equipment

The Police are holding an American Paul Mathiaus Rogers who was allegedly found in possession of military hardware and uniforms.

Some of the military equipment reportedly recovered from Rogers's house in Bwebajja includes several boxes containing 200 cartridges of a 7.62mm riffles, M13 riffles and military uniform among other accessories.

Rogers, a resident of Bwebajja, Entebbe municipality was arrested on Friday after his wife Lillian Kaitesi, a Ugandan, filed a case of domestic violence.

According to the Police spokesperson Emiliano Kayima, Kaitesi tipped off the Police about the weapons her husband was keeping in the house.

"We have arrested him and we are investigating a case of illegal possession of military equipment and another case of domestic violence," Kayima said.

He told New vision that Rogers is currently being held at Katwe Police Station, but declined to divulge more information saying it would jeopardise investigations.
