Police in East Kyoga region have vowed to deal with Ngora district residents over lawlessness.

This comes amidst increasing cases of mob justice in the district which have claimed lives of many innocent victims.

Michael Odongo, the regional police publicity officer said that residents of this district resort to mob justice whenever an accident or a crime happens in their vicinity.

He cited an incident in which the residents of Kapir sub-county on Monday burnt a Toyota Rav 4 registration number UAU 311M and a motor cycle UDE 0302M that were involved in an accident.

They also attacked Kapir police station.

The visibly furious Odongo described the act of mob justice as barbaric and warned locals to restrain from it or else face the wrath of the law.

"We have a number of cases where people of Ngora have taken the law into their hands.  We think they are ignorant of the law and our next move of action is to sensitize the whole community and thereafter, if they don't take the advice seriously, we shall start acting with iron hands," warned Odongo.
