Public takes over Parliament

KAMPALA - Prime Minister Dr. Ruhakana Rugunda promised the public that took part in the People's Parliament debate on the budget that the Government would look at suitable recommendations and implement them.

It was during the Parliament Week.

Rugunda, Speaker of Parliament Rebecca Kadaga, Deputy Speaker Jacob Oulanyah and Leader of Opposition Winfred Kiiza were guests during the opening of debate on the budget proposals  by the members of the public , playing part as regular MPs.

The event was part of activities to mark the Parliament Week, an initiative meant to inform the public about the role of MPs.

Earlier, a rigorous process of elections was held, where Kevin Wanjala (Farmer's Party) was elected the Public Speaker, Elizabeth Wanjala (Green Party) the Prime Minister and Micheal Muzamira (Worker's Party) the Leader of Opposition.
