LWENGO - The Government is to prioritise education as a major tool in the fight against poverty and also facilitating efforts and commitment in transforming the country's population into a middle-income status.

The Vice-President, Edward Ssekandi, said besides infrastructure, education will be a major sector in the country's development.

He made the remarks during the thanksgiving service for Kkingo Primary School in Lwengo district on Friday.

He pledged Government commitment in creating an enabling environment for the provision of quality education. The Vice-President commended private schools for complementing Government efforts in the education sector.

Ssekandi appealed to teachers to continue using the schools in inculcating discipline and positive character among those that pass through their hands.

The Lwengo district secretary for production Joseph Mulumba, said the school has for the last three years contributed remarkably to the education standards in the district with better performances.

The school director Robert Asiimwe said, they have been able to perform better because parents meet their obligations in time and that enables pupils to remain focused on their studies.

All the 30 PLE candidates who sat exams scored between 4 and 8 aggregates.

The school came fifth in national performance and the best in SST.
