Former National rally champion Moses Lumala is optimistic age will not affect his performances as he comes out of a 12 year retirement from the sport.

Lumala confirmed his return to rallying this season, begining with the Mbarara rally on January 26-28.

“I am back in action and age is does not matter in rally,” the 52-year-old said.

The 1999 and 2003 NRC champion said he will drive as a route opener in some events and also compete in others as he works on his fitness levels.

“I am not going to compete for the National rally champion (NRC) this season, but what I can assure you is that am back ,” Lumala said.

“I will do route opening and also compete in some events to gauge my ability using the Mitsubishi Evo 9 before I bring in a new car for NRC contest next season.”

Lumala went into retirement in 2005.
