It was a glamorous moment coupled with aura-ordinary excitement as Friends of Peace and Hope Foundation, a community-based organisation celebrated Christmas in style. The organisation empowers children from poor back ground and youth by paying their school fees and giving them other basic needs.

The event that took place at the organisation's offices in Kisoro Municipality was spiced by Kisoro-based artiste, John King who put up electrifying performance of his songs such as Tears of Love (Amarira yurukundo), Sherina among others.

"Whatever these children see ranging from entertainment to being served delicious meals goes straight in their memories and can't easily be erased. I am here to entertain them, they will go and tell their parents about what they saw," he stated shortly after performing.

The area reggae star added: "In music, we educate and entertain. These are the guys coming up tomorrow and they will keep on remembering us even if would not still be living."

Children also showcased skills such as traditional dance and drama and public speaking. Later they were treated to delicious meals and cake.

The project executive director Mark Uwineza asked the beneficiaries of the organisation's scholarships to work hard and enhance the country's socio-economic transformation. He warned children about poor performance saying they would risk losing out on the help.

"Some of you are not willing to study and may risk being sent away. We would rather have a small number of chidden who are willing to participate in the country's development after growing up, "he stated.
