Security steps up deployment in Kasese

Tusingwire revealed that police had already closed over 20 lodges that had failed to comply with earlier police instructions to have security guards.

Police, backed up by the army, has heightened deployments in to Kasese district to stem any insecurity over the Xmas festivities.

"Kampala has beefed us up to strengthen our patrols in all our subcounties," the Rwenzori East Regional Commander, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP). Julius Ceaser Tusingwire, confirmed Sunday.

He added that the forces were ready to handle any situation.
Tusingwire also said police had been beefed up by soldiers to secure Kasese and security installations in the district.

"Nobody will scare us. We shall deal with those who are threatening us especially those targeting police stations and posts," he warned.

Directive
SSP Tusingwire directed those intending to stage events such as night discos and over-night prayers and fireworks to first get clearance from police.

He told the media that police will not allow shows and functions in areas that will not have been cordoned.

"We shall deploy at major functions such as churches and at major junctions and routes and key installations. Those planning such events must first inform the Inspector-General of Police.

20 lodges closed
Tusingwire revealed that police had already closed over 20 lodges that had failed to comply with earlier police instructions to have security guards.

"We have received terror threats against such facilities and that is why last week we closed clubs that lack security measures including guards," he said in his office.

Tusingwire, however, assured the public to confidently celebrate the Christmas, explaining that all police posts have been strengthened with enough force.
