Voting underway in Bushenyi

Voting is underway in Igara East byelection with an impressive voter turn-up.  Casting of the ballot started well at all the 83 polling stations.

According to Electoral Commission, there are 52,692 registered voters.

There are six candidates in the race. They include: Former area MP Michael Mawanda, Benjamin Katana, Bernard Kananura and David Armstrong all independents while Christine Bekunika (FDC) and Andrew Martial (NRM). 

The seat fell vacant following the nullification of Martial’s election by Court of Appeal in October this year.
