Avoid contracting HIV, be innovative, graduates told

The Principal of Nsamizi Training Institute of Social Development, Dr Charles Kanyesigye, has urged the newly graduated students to be innovative and avoid vices which may lead to their quick death in older to contribute to the development of the country.

Dr Kanyesigye was addressing graduands at the 15th graduation ceremony for Nsamizi Training Institute for Social Development held on Friday at the main campus found in Mpigi town council, Mpigi district.

"Continue with your quest for knowledge, be innovative and avoid vices which may lead to your quick death such as contracting HIV/AIDS," Kanyesigye said.

Dr Kanyesigye urged the graduands to use the competencies, knowledge and the attitude they have gained from Nsamizi to create their own jobs, help communities and the nation to advance.

"Be our good ambassadors in the communities you are going to serve, if you fail to get employed, employ yourselves using the skills we have impacted in you, the economy needs you to transform it so do exactly that" he added.

A total of 751 students graduated with diplomas and certificates at this year's 15th graduation ceremony of which 343 were female representing 46% and 409 were male which represented 54%.

Six students emerged the best with first class diplomas in different fields with Elizabeth Achom, a student of social Sciences emerging the overall best.

These were awarded with different prizes ranging from money in cash.

The guest of Honor who was represented by Muzamir Mukwatampola, the assistant commissioner in charge of higher education in the Ministry of Education and sports called on students to be competent players in the realization of the country's vision 2020.

He challenged parents to continue investing in their children by sponsoring them for degrees if they have not been employed.

He cautioned students against behaving irresponsibly and avoid corruption at places where they will be employed.

"I urge you students to behave responsibly, avoid vices that may cause you to contract HIV/Aids and always know your purpose and pursue it with passion" he said.
