AGE LIMIT | COURT

Former Presidential Candidate Dr. Abed Bwanika has filed a petition in the High Court, seeking an order stopping Parliament from passing the age limit Bill, in a process that kicks off today.

The Petition has jointly been filed with former Lubaga South MP John Ken Lukyamuzi and Jeema Party President Ausman Basalirwa, through their lawyers Ladislus Lwakafuuzi and David Nalukoola .

The trio had recently been cleared by the Electoral Commission to submit signatures calling for a referendum, which hadn't been completed yet.

They argue that it is illegal for Parliament to determine the matter before completion of their exercise.

They now want all the ongoing Parliamentary processes on the issue halted until they are done.

They also want Court to allow them submit signatures electronically as stated by the Electronic Signatures Act.
