Trailer fails to brake, goes down the valley

Trailer driver Paul Begumisa recently cheated death after the vehicle he was driving failed to brake at a corner along Kabale-Kisoro road.

The Friday accident in Rubanda District saw the the trailer go down a valley.

According to the Kigezi Police spokesperson, Elly Maate, the trailer registration number UAZ 579F, failed to brake at a corner at Nyamiyaga cell, Nyaruhanga parish in Ikumba sub-county.

"Fortunately, no injured person since the driver was alone," he stated.

He added: "Drivers should ensure that their vehicles are well-maintained before they are put on the road, especially those that go long journeys, carrying heavy goods. They should also ensure that they observe Highway Code, so that they save people's lives and property."
