KCCA has agreed to have the activities carried out in 10 of its pilot schools.

The Ekisaakaate Kya Nnabagereka (EKN) and Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) have entered into a partnership under which they will promote cultural norms among school children in primary schools in the city.

KCCA has agreed to have the activities carried out in 10 of its pilot schools, where pupils will be given knowledge ranging from hygiene, sanitation and health.

The programme, according to the KCCA executive director, Jennifer Musisi, is going to file gaps which some parents and guardians have failed bridge, for example, giving their children basic information which Ssengas and Kojjas from the EKN will give to the pupils.

Musisi said teachers, parents and children are going to be mentored with knowledge and skills from the Nabageraka's Foundation Kisaakaate pioneers.

She said many children have not got a chance to get knowledge and skills on health, sanitation and hand works from their busy parents. Musisi also said it will be integrated in the school curriculum.

Nnabagereka, in her speech, said the school outreach programme will enhance a rich learning experience for better learning for individuals and schools.

Under the theme Laba, Yiga, Kola (watch, learn and act), Nagginda told the headteachers, teachers, and pupils from the pilot schools that they will benefit from the mentorship programme.

She said educating pupils on obuntubulamu (humility) integrates values in homes.

"You can pass all the subjects, become a lawyer, teacher, executive director or even a Nnabegereka but if you are not humble, It is useless," Nnabagereka said.

She said: "The programme is not replacing subjects taught in classes, but will prepare them for the future. They will learn to be confidence in public".

Nagginda said since its inception in 2007, about 12,000 children from Uganda and abroad have benefitted from the EKN.
