Lubowa's umbrella folds

According to family sources, Lubowa, who has also been a prominent politician and a former veteran journalist, died Friday morning at Namugongo, where he had been under the care of his daughter and son-in-law Kisuule Kironde.

Former Buganda Government Minister of Justice and Speaker of the Mengo Lukiiko Aloysius Darlington Lubowa, has died.  
 
According to family sources, Lubowa, who has also been a prominent politician and a former veteran journalist, died Friday morning at Namugongo, where he had been under the care of his daughter and son-in-law Kisuule Kironde.
 
When the Kabaka of Buganda Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II was marking his birthday on April 13, 2017, Lubowa was among those he recognized and honoured for their outstanding services to the kingdom and Buganda and Uganda as a whole.
 
According to Mengo administration Information Minister Noah Kiyimba, Kabaka Mutebi II honoured Lubowa, in absentia though, as he was ailing.
 
Kiyimba said that the Kabaka honoured Lubowa for what he mentioned as his remarkable and extraordinary services as Minister during the reign of his father, the late Sir Edward Luwangula Muteesa II then.
 
Lubowa's last interview was in October this year and was published in the New Vision on Independence Day, October 9, 2017. In the interview Lubowa, gave detailed account of Uganda independence talks in Lancaster, United Kingdom where he was one of the delegates who represented Buganda Kingdom.
 
Belonging to Ngo clan, Lubowa was due to attend the clan's annual general meeting at Bukesa- Buteesasira mu Butambala county that was due to be held tomorrow (Saturday December 9, 2017).
Kiyimba said Buganda Kingdom has lost a great man and an icon in many aspects to the youth of the nation. He will be greatly missed.
 
The third Deputy Katikkiro of Buganda Apollo Nelson Makubuya said that Buganda Kingdom has lost an encyclopedia on Buganda affairs and that he will forever be remembered for his outstanding services to the Kingdom.
According to Kisuule Kironde, who is a member of the Mengo Lukiiko, arrangements will be embarked upon when the relatives in conjunction with the Mengo administrators converge to forge the way forward.
