Rukiga Police arrest one, three on run over fraud

Police in Rukiga has one suspect in custody and is tracing for three others for alleged cases of forgery, making and uttering false documents with intent to defraud.

According to Elly Maate, the Kigezi Police spokesperson, the detained suspect is Enock Kasule 28, of Bwaise in Kawempe, Kampala district.

Maate said the four are alleged to have forged documents, hacked the system of Rukiga Savings and Credit Co-operative SACCO and managed to withdraw sh22m. He said they first withdrew sh18m on November 11.

"They later withdrew sh4m and today Kasule had come to withdraw sh900,000 which was still on the account, but he ran out of luck and was arrested," noted Maate, while speaking to New Vision, adding that efforts to apprehend his other associates are being made and a file against the suspect has been opened.
